Welcome to DBI2026 – the International Conference on Decarbonising the Building Industry.

Following the success of DBI2024, we are delighted to bring the DBI community back together in Melbourne in November 2026. DBI2026 continues our shared mission to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon building sector through collaboration between academia, industry, and government.

Buildings play a critical role in Australia’s net zero pathway. Addressing emissions across construction, operation, and end-of-life requires new thinking, practical solutions, and strong partnerships. DBI2026 provides a platform to share knowledge, challenge current practice, and establish new networks among experts in the field.

We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne and to another impactful DBI conference.

Conference Co-Chairs, DBI2026

DBI2026 is the second international conference delivered under the Decarbonising the Building Industry (DBI) initiative. The conference will be held on 19–20 November 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference brings together researchers, industry leaders, practitioners, and policy makers to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the built environment: how to significantly reduce carbon emissions across the full building lifecycle.

In 2026, DBI will be co-hosted with the 12th International Conference on Innovative Production and Construction (IPC2026), creating a co-branded international event that strengthens links between decarbonisation, innovation, and construction delivery.
